Avenue NYC Program
The New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) Avenue NYC Program aims to partner with community-based organizations to execute commercial revitalization initiatives. Since the crisis of Pandemic, Bensonhurst community has also been experiencing a lot of impacts and challenges including increasing incidents of anti-Asian hate crime and businesses closeout etc. Brooklyn Chinese-American Association (BCA) is partnering with the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to better understand neighborhood needs, develop impactful project and listen to the local merchants about what should happen to ensure a vibrant commercial district along the Bensonhurst corridor.

Our Mission
We understand the challenges faced by local businesses, especially since the crisis of Pandemic. According to the Commercial District Needs Assessment (CDNA) Merchant Survey, many business owners have reported a reduction in foot traffic in Bensonhurst commercial district. It is shared that consumers would rather shop online than visit the stores in-person given the negative perception of safety in the commercial district. ShopBensonhurst, a website developed by Brooklyn Chinese-American Association (BCA) and NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), aims to provide a platform for merchants to promote their businesses online and revitalize local businesses through Internet.
